A stool with a back that can be used anywhere in the house, seamlessly blends in with surroundings, and can be stored away
How can I incorporate family and the things my grandma loves into a simple object to make it more meaningful to her?
I partnered with my cousin, Kayla Dantz, to create custom upholstery matching our grandmother's interior and taste to integrate into my stool design
k.dantz is a hand woven textile artist based in Massachusetts
Kayla wove a swatch of fabric for me use as a pattern for my design and renderings
I designed a stool in Autodesk Fusion360 and played around with joints and movement to come up with a folding stool with a supportive back.
Next, I rendered my design in Fusion and took the renders into Photoshop to add the upholstery material and backgrounds.
I am continuing to work with Kayla to make a finished stool to give to our grandmother. Stay tuned for the final piece –Spring 2025.
